The swap is when everything breaks

A tech leaves a new gateway on the counter, the old mesh forgets the world, printers vanish, and the shop camera app times out. That is not your fault. Two networks just had a fight.

Starlink, Optimum, municipal fiber, and leftover DSL all show up in Johnson, Floyd, Magoffin, and Martin counties. The brand on the truck matters less than whether the LAN behind it is yours.

One network, one name, one password story

We put the ISP box in its place — modem or backup — and run Wi-Fi from gear you can keep if you change providers next year.

If the shop is 150 feet of gravel from the house, that is a dedicated link or a node, not a prayer. We will quote the honest version.
